In all my years of having dogs I have never had a dog with eye problems....
I see many European Dogs listed with a test called a PHPV and PHTLV....
I have heard of PRA: progressive rentinal atrophy, and cataracts but do Dobermans get this too?
I found a website that lists the info about the PHPV but it does not sound like PRA and certianly not like cataracts...
Has anyone had a doberman that had this? I am curious how common it is and why I see so many Euro's with that PHPV testing done and...

When he saw it was "mommy" he turned into the big goof that he is. My toy poodle came from my bedroom looking very upset! Because Falkor was in the house...

I would love to hear the personal experiences of those who have started obedience with an adult rescue or re-home that you did not raise. Were you able to get to the competition level? CD? How far did you go? What were some of the obstacles you faced along the way?

Tomorrow,Jan-28th Daisy will be a big 3 years old!
Since thats 21 to you and me i'm thinking she may get a little beer after dinner.
She is after all "of age" and of German heritage. She has grown into quite a great dog,a bit spoiled but a sweetheart with the kids and ultra alert to whats going on around us.......nothing gets past her
While there's always room for improvement,we could not be any more happy with the dog she has become.Jan

I am actively beginning my search for a rescue/re-home adult dobe. So far searching online is what I have done. It seems the rescue near me shows hardly any available. I’ve see the IDR site and they seem to have so many! My question is: Do I fill out only the applications locally or are there other rescues that have dogs that need homes immediately that will adopt outside of their area? Does anyone have experience rescuing a dobe in a different state because...
